There was cheering for the President this morning, but it was also apparent that the bloom on the rose is gone. The audience plants (aka Union & Acorn Thugs) were a little lackluster in the thrill at the Obama stock catchphrases and the applause-o-meter barely went up as many didn’t applaud at all.  Obama too, seemed lackluster at the beginning of his speech; he stumbled and sweated a little and broke his own mantra, “never let them see you sweat”.  But though nerves were apparent, as he gained speed and starting knocking off statistic after statistic about health care and our dramatic need for improvement the charisma improved.

While I am personally very happy with my health care situation and always have been, I can see that there are people that do need care and we need to figure out how to go about making sure that people, whatever their means can get the care they need.  That being said, I also know that what is being proposed in Congress and is “called” the Presidents Health Care Bill, there is absolutely NO WAY THIS LEGISLATION COULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN IN THE FEW MONTHS THAT OBAMA HAS BEEN PRESIDENT, EVEN SINCE HE KNEW HE WAS ELECTED!!

While I have not read the bill personally, I have read articles (both pro and con) about the bill and it’s many parts. And went out on the great WEB to find some analysis of the costs and benefits…  Bearing in mind that there is a lot of bogus information available, I ended up with an article on the CNN Money website, by Shawn Tully written on July 24th of this year and I am going to paraphrase it here and give you the http://money.cnn.com/2009/07/24/news/economy/health_care_reform_obama.fortune/index.htm  to read his excellent article in full.

Once the lead in was over, Tully dived right in with this comment,”In short, the Obama platform would mandate extremely full, expensive and highly subsidized coverage—including a lot of benefits people would never pay for with their own money – - but deliver it through a highly restrictive, HMO-style plan that will determine what care and tests you can and can’t have.”

He goes on to discuss the FIVE ENDANGERED FREEDOMS THAT AMERICAN WOULD LOSE UNDER OBAMACARE.  I will really abreviate his comments and HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go to: www.cnnmoney.com/  and read the entire article it is great!

1. Freedom to choose what plan you’re in. Briefly you will be “required” to purchase a “qualified” plan that has all the required care covered. The problem being that you might not need, prenatal care if you are a single man, or drug abuse therapy if you are a Senior… essentially will will all be paying for everything whether we will need it or not.

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay  your real costs. The bill enshrines one of the worst features of the bill: community rating. It’s awful.

3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage. Your Health Savings Account would no longer give you any help because you will have to get a minimum requirement plan….

4. Freedom to keep your existing plan. The Pres keeps talking about this, but guess what?  ERISA plan companies have only 5 years before they have to offer only qualified plans. Even those plans that you were in after the law goes into effect, if your plan changes “in ANY way” (price, coverage, anything) the employee must drop out and shop through the exchange.

5. Freedom to choose your doctors. Since you have to buy your insurance through this exchange, you have to get your care through a “medical home” (similar to HMO)

Of course when we get this big monstrosity of a system, remeber, ACORN and  UNIONS GET TO KEEP THE COVERAGE THAT THEY HAVE, as do the President, his cronies and the Congress and past Congressmen, Senators and families – ARE YOU SEE A PATTERN HERE??? I can’t imagine how these Congressional weasles can think this is fair much less say this is fair with a straight face. The fact that they can, tells it all. They are building an army of the elete and  those folks get better stuff!

My last point is regarding the cost.  They say it will cost $1 TRILLION, for the first year, but lets take a quick look at their successful projections.

If this program followed MEDICARE, then it would be costing $6.4 TRILLLION – WHERE ARE WE GOING TO GET THE MONEY AND HOW ARE WE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS!! So as much as they want to create the elete class of Congressmen, and Union guys it’s time to get back to reality, EVEN IF WE LIKED IT, WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS MONSTROSITY OF A PLAN!!!
